Pir Zaheerul Hasan Shah, deputy chief of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), was detained on Monday after allegedly ordering the assassination of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, who had granted bail to a blasphemy accused from the Ahmadi minority.
A Punjab police spokesperson confirmed Shah was apprehended in Okara city under terrorism charges, following his speech during a protest in Lahore.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif emphasized the government's zero-tolerance policy towards any threats to state officials, highlighting concerns about religiously motivated violence incited via social media.
