Three Afghan civilians lost their lives during a border clash between Pakistan and Afghanistan security forces, according to a Taliban administration spokesman in Kabul. The incident unfolded late Monday near the southwestern border crossing of Torkham.
Mufti Abdul Mateen, spokesman for Afghanistan's interior ministry, said Pakistani border forces opened fire on Afghan forces and targeted civilian homes, resulting in the deaths of a woman and two children. Pakistan's military has yet to respond to requests for comment.
A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that three Pakistani paramilitary troops were wounded in the skirmish. Clashes along the disputed border, drawn during British colonial rule, are frequent.
