EC Halts Recruitment Announcements Amid Haryana Polls

The Election Commission on Wednesday took significant steps to ensure fair play in the Haryana Assembly elections. Authorities in the state have been prohibited from announcing the results of ongoing recruitment processes for police constables and teachers until the elections conclude.
The assembly polls in Haryana are scheduled for a single phase on October 1, with results slated for release on October 4. The EC's model code instructions allow continuing regular recruitment processes but require clearance for recruitments via non-statutory bodies to prevent undue advantages.
Following a complaint from Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, the EC reviewed and found no violations in the recruitment processes initiated by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission and Haryana Public Service Commission. However, to maintain fairness, it ordered a halt on result announcements until after the election.
