U.S. President Joe Biden announced a new $125 million military aid package for Ukraine during a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Friday, ahead of Ukraine's Independence Day on Saturday.
In reaffirming Washington's unwavering support for Ukraine in its war with Russia, the aid package will include air-defense missiles, counter-drone equipment, anti-armor missiles, and ammunition, as stated by the White House.
Following the discussion, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov also spoke. On the same day, the U.S. imposed sanctions on more than 400 entities and individuals aiding Russia, including Chinese companies and others skirting Western sanctions to bolster Moscow's military efforts.
