Pentagon Warns: Ongoing Threats from Iran Towards Israel
The Pentagon asserts that Iran and its proxies continue to pose a threat of attack against Israel. This follows Hezbollah's recent rocket and drone strikes on Israel in retaliation for a senior commander's killing. Israeli and U.S. officials stress the importance of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
The Pentagon has reaffirmed that threats from Iran and its proxy groups toward Israel remain a significant concern. This follows recent attacks by Hezbollah, who launched hundreds of rockets and drones at Israel in response to the killing of a senior Hezbollah commander.
Speaking to reporters, Pentagon spokesperson Air Force Major General Patrick Ryder pointed to public comments by Iranian leaders to support the ongoing assessment of potential attacks. Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant emphasized that Iran's activities against Israel are at an all-time high, urging necessary preparations to block Iran's nuclear ambitions.
During a region-focused visit, U.S. military top officer General C.Q. Brown met with Gallant and Israel's Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi to discuss strategies. Following significant border clashes, including a pre-emptive strike by Israel on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, leaders from both sides have expressed a desire to avoid further escalation while remaining prepared for potential future conflicts.
