Russia Evacuates Citizens Amidst Escalating Middle East Tensions
Russia has started evacuating citizens from Lebanon, including family members of its diplomats, following orders from President Vladimir Putin. The evacuation comes amidst ongoing regional tensions, including Israel's conflict with Hamas in Gaza and military actions in southern Lebanon, heightening the risk of broader international involvement.
Russia initiated the evacuation of its citizens from Lebanon amidst growing regional tensions, with a special flight departing Beirut on Thursday. The operation included family members of Russian diplomats, as confirmed by Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov.
Approximately 60 individuals are expected to arrive in Russia from Lebanon following instructions from President Vladimir Putin. The ministry stated that such evacuations are part of Russia’s broader efforts to assist its citizens, often extending help to individuals from former Soviet territories during crises.
The move coincides with rising conflict in the Middle East, as Israel continues its offensive against Hamas in Gaza and has deployed troops into southern Lebanon. This escalation poses the risk of involving global powers like the United States and Iran.
