In a heated press conference, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi brought to light allegations of a 'voters scam' in the New Delhi constituency, where AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal is contesting the forthcoming assembly elections. Atishi revealed that recent updates to the electoral roll include a 10% influx of new voters and a 5.5% deletion, raising questions about the integrity of the list.
The Chief Minister called into question the Election Commission's involvement, describing its role as 'suspicious' for failing to investigate these significant changes. 'I've addressed a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner demanding clarification on this alleged scam,' Atishi stated. Prominent Aam Aadmi Party figures, including Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh, supported her claims, even noting an attempt to remove Singh's wife from the electoral list.
As Delhi's Assembly elections approach in February, the controversy over these alleged irregularities intensifies. AAP, aiming for another landslide victory after previously securing 62 out of 70 seats, met with the Election Commission on December 11 to discuss mass voter deletions.
