Delhi Police recently detained three unauthorised Bangladeshi immigrants residing on the outskirts of the national capital. This move comes as part of a special drive to enhance security and mitigate unlawful activities associated with unauthorised immigration, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Sachin Sharma.
According to the DCP, a tip-off on March 10 prompted a series of police raids in multiple areas including PVC Market Mundka, Baba Haridas Colony, and Sultan Puri. A thorough verification process was conducted, checking over 833 individuals with 267 marked as suspicious. Among those, 174 claimed to hail from West Bengal and 93 from Assam.
The crackdown led to the interception of three individuals near Kali Mata Mandir, who initially posed as West Bengal residents. However, under intense questioning, they confessed to being Bangladeshi nationals who re-entered India illegally after prior deportation. Identified as Safruddin, Ibrahim, and Sorab from Kurigram, Bangladesh, deportation procedures have now been initiated through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office.
