The grant of bail to two nuns in Chhattisgarh, accused of human trafficking and forced conversion, has led to a political uproar in Kerala. The ruling LDF, opposition UDF, and a prominent Catholic body have all labeled the development as a positive step.
The allegations stem from a complaint filed by a Bajrang Dal functionary, leading to the nuns' arrest at Durg railway station. However, V Sivankutty, Kerala's General Education Minister, has called out the BJP for alleged double standards towards minority communities.
Welcoming the bail, leaders like V D Satheesan and K C Venugopal have criticized BJP and Bajrang Dal, urging withdrawal of the 'false' case. Archbishop Andrews Thazhath also expressed concerns over the false allegations, demanding quick action to quash the case.
