The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has recently covered the Kabutarkhana, a historic Grade II heritage structure in Dadar, with a tarpaulin. This move comes amid mounting health concerns linked to the feeding of pigeons and results in restricted public access.

This decision prompted Maharashtra Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha to call for the civic commissioner's intervention to explore a more balanced solution. In a letter to Mumbai's civic chief, Bhushan Gagrani, Lodha insisted on considering the sentiments of seers and animal enthusiasts, all while adhering to court directives.

The Bombay High Court had earlier noted that the pigeon feeding congregation posed public nuisance and health risks, ordering the civic body to take formal action. Lodha suggested exploring alternative sites like the BKC or Sanjay Gandhi National Park for pigeon feeding, urging broader approaches to the issue.
