Opposition parties in India, under the banner of the INDIA bloc, have called for an urgent discussion in Parliament about the ongoing voter roll revision exercise in Bihar. They argue it is crucial to safeguard the voting rights of marginalized communities, including minorities, Dalits, and adivasis.
At a joint press conference with fellow INDIA bloc leaders, Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, insisted that the government is unwilling to facilitate a debate on this issue. He expressed concerns over the potential disenfranchisement of specific communities through this electoral revision process.
The bloc's leaders, including Congress, Trinamool Congress, and CPI-M representatives, expressed their intention to protest the perceived undemocratic practices both inside and outside the Parliament, demanding a fair debate and government accountability.
