Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a transformative 10-year project named "Mission Sudarshan Chakra" to develop an indigenous defence shield for India. This initiative aims to safeguard critical military and civilian sites while providing a robust response to enemy threats, amid growing concerns over tensions with Pakistan and China.
During his speech at the Red Fort on Independence Day, Modi underscored the importance of reducing dependency on foreign military technologies. He emphasized that securing national development demands strategic autonomy, drawing inspiration from India's mythological and cultural heritage.
Along with developing a comprehensive security system by 2035, the mission will focus on fostering domestic talent and innovation to create self-reliant defence technologies.
