Swift Police Action Thwarts Student and Teacher Protests in Salt Lake

Protests by teaching job aspirants and the Students' Federation of India in Salt Lake were halted by police intervention. Two significant protests in Salt Lake on Tuesday were effectively curtailed by prompt police action, as demonstrators were swiftly detained. The protests included teaching job aspirants and members of the Students' Federation of India (SFI), both seeking to voice their demands.

The teaching aspirants, who passed the Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) in 2022, aimed to press for recruitment into primary school vacancies. Their march ended at Karunamoyee Metro station with many being detained and traffic momentarily disrupted.

Simultaneously, SFI members attempted a march to Bikash Bhavan, demanding commencement of classes, exam results publication, and withholding of counseling. However, leaders were detained before the protest began, leading to further scuffles and later demonstrations demanding the release of their members.
