On Friday, opposition legislators in Tripura voiced their dissatisfaction as the assembly agenda for September 22 remained empty, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's planned visit to the state.
The visit is set to take place in Udaipur, Gomati district, where Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the redeveloped Tripureswari temple. Opposition figures, including senior Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, argue that crucial discussions on public matters are being sidelined.
Roy Barman highlighted that the assembly will not convene on a working day, underscoring the priority given to the Prime Minister's visit. Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury concurred, suggesting that the session could be adjusted. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath clarified that the assembly session was scheduled before confirmation of Modi's visit, underscoring the ruling party's unanimous decision on the matter.
