An NCP (SP) leader has raised serious allegations of water theft, claiming that 60 million liters per day (MLD) are being siphoned from the Bhatsa river pipeline. The leader accused civic officials of complicity in this theft, which has continued unchecked for nine years, causing severe water shortages in Thane city.
According to the allegations, the water theft occurs along the pipeline between Pise and Temghar. Despite repeated communications, authorities have allegedly refrained from taking action due to financial incentives. Residents of Thane are urged to demand accountability and justice for this longstanding issue.
At a recent press conference, Manoj Pradhan, the NCP (SP) president for Thane district, called for legal action against the officials and the perpetrators involved. He cited illegal tap connections at air valves in Sonale, Bapgaon, and Devrung as evidence of this ongoing malfeasance.
