A Joint Inspector General of Registration-led committee has revealed findings from its probe into a contentious Rs 300-crore land deal involving the son of Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar. The firm under scrutiny, co-owned by Parth Pawar, reportedly purchased government land.
The committee's report, made public on Tuesday, refrained from implicating Parth Pawar directly, citing his absence from documented records of the deal. However, it indicted three individuals named in a police FIR, including a suspended government official involved in the process.
Indictments were issued against Digvijay Patil, Parth Pawar's cousin, and business associate, alongside Sheetal Tejwani, who represented the sellers' interests. An imminent inquiry by a broader six-member panel led by Maharashtra's Chief Minister is expected to delve deeper into the debacle.
