A 45-year-old suspect, Dhiraj Tomar alias Raj Singh, was apprehended on Friday for allegedly murdering taxi drivers in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. He is accused of disposing of the bodies in isolated locations and selling the vehicles in Nepal, according to police reports.
Identified as a proclaimed offender from a 2001 murder and robbery case, Tomar was part of a gang that targeted taxi drivers. The group would kill their victims, abandon the bodies in remote sites, and then dispose of the vehicles in Nepal, stated a senior police officer.
Having adopted a new identity, Tomar managed to elude capture by moving away from his family. However, recent police inputs led to his arrest near his ancestral village. His confession reportedly links him to further crimes, including murder, robbery, and abduction across Uttarakhand and Delhi. Investigations continue.
