The Odisha Police have apprehended a group involved in an extensive mobile theft racket, seizing 342 mobile phones with an estimated value of Rs 17 lakh. This operation took place in Ganjam district, leading to the arrest of four suspects, according to officials.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspects were targeting busy areas both within Odisha and in neighboring Andhra Pradesh to steal these devices. The Superintendent of Police (SP) in Berhampur, Saravana Vivek M, stated that the accused also acquired stolen phones at low prices from outside the state.

Authorities discovered the suspects had rented a house in the Bada Bazar area's Srikhetra Vihar, which served as a storage facility for the pilfered phones, added the SP.
