In a move to bolster national security, the Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled a campaign against illegal immigration, focusing on Bangladeshi and Rohingya groups. This initiative follows the movement of individuals from West Bengal post-electoral roll revisions.
A framework is underway to curb entry and streamline identification and deportation processes. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has affirmed the state's non-tolerance for illegal infiltration, emphasizing a zero-compromise stance on security.
Detention centers will be established by the state in each division to house detainees until legal processes are finalized. The deportation efforts are synchronized with the FRRO, with district magistrates submitting daily reports to the Home Department. Under the Foreigners Act, 1946, the campaign ensures judicial rights for suspects, aiming for a balanced legal approach.
