CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby has voiced concerns over certain Kerala courts, claiming they fail to deliver the expected 'sense of justice' in key cases, labeling this as a 'misfortune'. The statement was made during Baby's interaction with reporters, referencing the legal protection Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil has received amid sexual assault allegations.
Highlighting contrasting judicial outcomes, Baby praised the denial of bail to activist Rahul Easwar, detained for allegedly defaming a victim in a linked case. He criticized the disparity, with Mamkootathil obtaining arrest protection, suggesting inconsistent judicial conduct in Kerala's courts.
Baby also targeted the opposition Congress, alleging they support expelled MLA Mamkootathil post-incident, contrary to public cultural standards. Further, he addressed delays in the case against ex-MLA P T Kunju Muhammed, affirming that the LDF government would uphold justice, while Congress accused Chief Minister Vijayan of inaction.
