Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara clarified on Saturday that his recent comments regarding the demolition of properties linked to individuals in the narcotics trade were misunderstood and misinterpreted.
Addressing concerns about his earlier remarks, Parameshwara reiterated the government's firm stance on combating drug-related activities, specifically those connected to foreign nationals accused of trafficking. He stressed that his comments were not intended to indicate immediate demolitions but to illustrate the severity of the issue.
The minister's remarks came in response to a query from Congress MLC K Abdul Jabbar during a legislative council session, where he outlined the enforcement efforts undertaken since the Congress government assumed power. Parameshwara mentioned the challenge posed by foreign nationals, particularly students from African countries, who are involved in the drug trade and complicate deportation efforts by having cases registered against them.
