Chaos in Palmyra: The Deadly Attack
Islamic State claims that the killing of U.S. Pentagon staff in Palmyra is a setback for U.S. and Syrian anti-ISIS forces. Two U.S. soldiers and a civilian died in an attack on a convoy. Syrian authorities have detained five people linked to the incident.
Islamic State declared the recent attack on U.S. Pentagon personnel in Palmyra as a substantial setback for both American forces and Syrian factions opposed to the group in its initial public comment.
The assault resulted in the deaths of two U.S. Army soldiers and a civilian interpreter when an attacker targeted a joint American and Syrian convoy in the ancient city. The incident also left three other U.S. soldiers injured.
Following the attack, Syria's Interior Ministry reported the arrest of five individuals believed to be connected to the assailant, identified as a Syrian security forces member allegedly sympathetic to Islamic State.
