Concerns spiraled in Ranchi as local police visited the Enforcement Directorate's zonal office over an assault complaint lodged by a former state employee. The complainant, previously with the drinking water and sanitation department, alleged assault during an inquiry into a water supply scam implicating ED officials.
A police team, headed by a DSP-level officer, conducted the probe but remained silent on the specifics of their findings. Despite the lack of an official statement, the visit prompted speculation about its true intentions, as CISF personnel ramped up security around the ED premises.
Further stoking the controversy, Jharkhand's Leader of Opposition, Babulal Marandi, suggested police action could be used to tamper with evidence linked to Chief Minister Hemant Soren's corruption cases. He warned of potential efforts to destroy crucial documents amidst the police activity.
