Swift Evacuation Efforts Underway: Jammu and Kashmir Students Stranded in Iran

The Jammu and Kashmir government has moved swiftly to ensure the safe evacuation of residents and students stranded in Iran amidst rising tensions. On Thursday, a nodal officer was appointed to coordinate efforts with the central authorities, as families express growing concerns over the safety of their loved ones.
An official order designated Additional Resident Commissioner Anil Sharma to facilitate coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian embassy in Iran, and other relevant agencies. This step aims to streamline the process for safety procedures, travel facilitation, and information sharing.
Amid the deteriorating security situation in Iran, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has sought assurances from External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for the students' safety. Meanwhile, relief emerged as Iran reopened its airspace, allowing a first evacuation flight to be scheduled from Tehran to Delhi.
