A total of 155 government employees are facing legal action for allegedly neglecting their duties during the recent civic polls in Maharashtra, according to official sources.

Hailing from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and its neighboring regions, including Phulambri and Gangapur Panchayat Samiti, these state employees failed to collect essential poll materials and did not show up for their assigned election duties, despite being provided with written directives. The civic elections, which included the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation, were conducted on January 15, with vote counting scheduled for January 16.

The absenteeism prompted Assistant Commissioner Uday Manwatkar from the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation to lodge a complaint, leading to legal proceedings being initiated under the Representation of the People Act by the City Chowk police.
