An elderly Ohio man, aged 83, has been found guilty of murder after a tragic case of mistaken identity involving an Uber driver. The man, William J. Brock, shot the driver, believing she was part of a scheme to extort $12,000 from him.
The driver, 61-year-old Lo-Letha Toland-Hall from Dublin, Ohio, was also misled by the same scam, according to investigators. She was directed to Brock's residence to collect a package as part of her driving assignment.
Despite providing a self-defense argument, claiming the scammer threatened his family, the court convicted Brock of murder, felonious assault, and kidnapping. Both families involved are grieving, while the true scammers remain at large, said Clark County Prosecutor Daniel Driscoll.
