A 22-year-old man and his father have been charged with allegedly forcing a 17-year-old girl to convert and uploading an objectionable video of her on social media, officials disclosed on Thursday.
The incident sparked fierce protests from the victim's family and local Hindu organizations. The demonstrators pelted stones at the accused's residence and besieged the local police station, demanding severe legal action.
The police have filed an FIR against the accused, named Ayan, and his father, Maulana Khan, under multiple laws, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act, and the POCSO Act, among others. Senior police officials have assured the public of stringent measures to address the grievances.
