A Delhi Motor Accident Claims Tribunal has awarded over Rs 1.62 crore in compensation to Aryan Rana, a 21-year-old student who was left with a debilitating injury after a bus accident. The young man sustained 53% temporary disability when a bus collided with his scooty on July 1, 2024.

During the hearing, Presiding Officer Vikram concluded that the negligence of the bus driver was the primary cause of the incident. The bus conductor also confirmed the bus's role in overtaking and hitting Aryan's scooty. This act of negligence not only led to the collision but significantly altered Aryan's life trajectory.

The tribunal emphasized the severe impact of the accident, noting Aryan's inability to continue his education and predicted his future earnings loss. Consequently, the tribunal mandated The New India Co. Ltd., the vehicle insurer, to deposit the compensation amount, which includes Rs 59.36 lakh for loss of future earnings.
