The Nagaland government is set to introduce the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) Bill during the current session of the Assembly, as announced by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. The bill aims to establish regional autonomy while preserving the state's unity, following a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed in 2026.

The agreement, involving the Eastern Nagaland Peoples' Organisation (ENPO), ensures no division of the state and addresses local aspirations without altering Article 371A or creating a separate entity. Legislative power will remain with the state, and ongoing Naga political negotiations will continue unaffected, highlighted Rio.

The Chief Minister emphasized tackling unemployment and education-employment mismatches by launching initiatives like skill development programs and micro-financing. Additionally, the state is advancing in technology and agriculture, notably with the inauguration of an Artificial Intelligence school in Kohima.
