In a pointed critique ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, the Congress has taken a caustic jab at Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi, accusing him of leading what they have dubbed the 'Narendra Destructive Alliance' (NDA) without genuine legitimacy.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh invoked historical symbolism to criticize Modi, stating, 'Remember May 28th, 2023? It was the day Narendra Modi walked into the new Parliament building with the Sengol. Historical narratives from August 15th, 1947, were distorted to underscore Modi's aspirations of being a sovereign and to appeal to the Tamil electorate.'
Ramesh further claimed, 'The Tamil electorate and indeed India's electorate have rejected Modi's pretensions, leading to his substantial personal, political, and moral defeat,' he stated. Despite the BJP-led coalition securing 293 out of 543 seats in the recent polls, Modi's legitimacy remains hotly contested.
