Macron Warns Pension Proposals Could Lead to Bankruptcy

President Emmanuel Macron warned in a recent speech that proposals from other French parties regarding pension reform could lead to the bankruptcy of the pension system. He emphasized that returning to old reforms and eliminating current changes would jeopardize retirees' benefits and destabilize the system.

Other French parties' proposals on pensions would lead to the bankruptcy of the pension system, President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday in a speech addressing the snap parliamentary election he announced at the weekend.

"What the opposition parties are proposing is to return to pension reform, that is to say, to first eliminate what has been done for retirees ... but above all to put the retirement system into bankruptcy", Macron said.
