Following its decisive win in the Lok Sabha elections, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is set to commemorate its annual Martyrs' Day rally this Sunday. The event aims to underscore the TMC's role in fostering opposition unity against the BJP, particularly in West Bengal.
Key figures including Abhishek Banerjee, TMC's national general secretary, will grace the rally after a period of medical leave. Akhilesh Yadav, Samajwadi Party chief, is also slated to participate, as confirmed by TMC's senior leader Kunal Ghosh on the social media platform X.
In a public statement, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reminisced about the historical significance of July 21, commemorating the day in 1993 when 13 Youth Congress members were killed during police firing under the CPI(M) regime. She called for public participation to honor the martyrs and celebrate 'Ma-Mati-Manush Divas,' reflecting on the TMC's electoral achievements.
