Imran Khan Refuses Polygraph Test Amid May 9 Riots Probe
Pakistan’s jailed former prime minister Imran Khan has declined to submit to polygraph and voice matching tests conducted by Lahore police. The investigations pertain to the May 9, 2023, riots triggered following his arrest in a corruption case. Khan has been imprisoned since August last year and faces over 200 cases.
Pakistan's jailed former prime minister Imran Khan has refused to undergo polygraph and voice matching tests as part of an investigation by Lahore police. The tests relate to the May 9, 2023, riots that occurred after Khan was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau in a £190-million corruption case.
A 12-member forensic team from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) arrived at Adiala Jail to conduct the tests. Although Khan answered police questions for 15 minutes, he declined to proceed with the polygraph test, stating he was already being investigated by multiple institutions.
The lack of cooperation was reported to Lahore DIG Investigation Zeeshan Asghar. Authorities are expected to discuss a follow-up in consultation with the prosecution department. The May 9 riots involved attacks on military installations and public properties, leading to a comprehensive crackdown on PTI workers.
