Senior Congress leader Selja has labeled the latest Budget presented by the BJP government as a collection of empty promises and biased towards BJP-ruled states. Speaking during a discussion, Selja questioned the fairness of the Budget, highlighting the absence of a caste census for identifying target groups.
More specifically, Selja noted the lack of attention given to states like Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Jammu & Kashmir while criticizing the government's focus on only a few states. She emphasized that experienced politicians like Nitish Kumar and N. Chandrababu Naidu should remain cautious of the government's promises, which, according to her, may not last long.
Touching on several issues, including declining trust in the government, agrarian crises, and socio-economic policies, Selja pointed out the severe neglect in these areas. She accused the administration of favoring corporate interests over farmers and criticized the handling of educational and health projects. Selja also took a swipe at the government's penchant for renaming schemes without substantive action.
