Reacting to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's allegation of being allowed to speak for only five minutes at the NITI Aayog meeting, Congress leader Udit Raj condemned the incident. He claimed that similar suppressions have occurred under BJP rule before, including instances where Rahul Gandhi's microphone was muted in Parliament.
Raj remarked, "Despite their setback in the Lok Sabha polls, the BJP's dictatorial attitude persists. CM Mamata Banerjee's mic was muted within five minutes. Given this, there is no point in inviting the opposition to such meetings. Congress made the right choice by skipping the NITI Aayog meeting."
Udit Raj also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging he suppresses even his party members, making it inevitable that the opposition's voice would be silenced. He pointed out the unequal treatment between opposition and BJP-ruled states, citing increased financial aid to Andhra Pradesh and Bihar as evidence. Banerjee accused the Centre of deliberate attempts to malign the opposition and favor BJP allies, after leaving the NITI Aayog meeting early on Saturday.
