External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized on Monday the importance of India's active engagement with Ukraine and Russia to seek resolution for their ongoing conflict. His comments followed reports of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's possible visit to Kyiv next month.
Speaking at an interactive session at the Japan National Press Club, Jaishankar said that a battlefield solution is not feasible and passive attitudes toward the conflict would be ''fatalistic.'' He advocated for a proactive stance to prevent the situation from deteriorating.
The minister also referred to recent meetings between Indian leaders and key figures from both nations, underlining India's continued diplomatic efforts. Jaishankar stressed that the conflict's global impact, including food shortages and economic crises, demands an urgent return to dialogue and diplomacy.
