Usman Majid, former Jammu and Kashmir minister and Apni Party vice president, has officially parted ways with the party, accusing it of aligning with the BJP. Majid stated that the 'youngest regional outfit' was playing second fiddle to the BJP and cited his constituents' disapproval of BJP's anti-minority stance as a primary reason for his departure.
Majid, a two-time MLA from Bandipora, noted, 'I have parted ways with the Apni Party as friends. However, it was evident they are aligned with the BJP. This alignment was clear during the elections where an understanding between them was visible.'
Discussing his political future, Majid emphasized that any decision would be made after consulting his workers and considering the best interests of Bandipora. A two-time MLA, Majid originally won the Bandipora Assembly seat as an Independent candidate in 2002 and later joined the Congress before moving to the Apni Party in 2020.
