Ukrainian forces forged ahead with their major cross-border push into Russia's Kursk region for the second consecutive week, claiming that they seized more territory, captured additional Russian prisoners, and destroyed a bomber in assaults on military airfields.
On Wednesday, assault troops advanced approximately 1 to 2 kilometers further into the Kursk region, according to Gen Oleksandr Syrskyi, who shared the update via a video on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Telegram channel. Ukrainian troops reportedly took over 100 Russian soldiers prisoner, and Zelenskyy indicated they would eventually be exchanged for Ukrainian prisoners of war.
Complementing their ground offensive, the troops also destroyed a Russian Su-34 jet, a pivotal asset in launching glide bombs on Ukrainian front-line positions and cities, according to Ukraine's General Staff.
