The Pakistan government has leveled accusations against jailed ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan, alleging his role in orchestrating a political conspiracy to sow disorder across the nation. According to media reports, Khan had conspired with former ISI chief Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed and other ex-military officers.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar asserted that Khan and Hameed's alliance aimed to spread chaos. Hameed, who was arrested after being accused of misusing his official authority, is said to have been part of this intricate plot. The investigation, spearheaded by the army's internal accountability mechanisms, is expected to expand in scope.
Tarar emphasized the need for other institutions to adopt similar self-regulatory practices. Meanwhile, Khan, despite recent distancing from Hameed, has hinted at his close ties with the former spy chief, suggesting that Hameed's transfer to Peshawar was a ploy against the PTI government by former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa and Nawaz Sharif.
