Failed Assassination Plot: Inside the Gunman’s Detailed Plan to Attack Trump Rally
Thomas Crooks, a 20-year-old, plotted to assassinate Donald Trump at a Pennsylvanian rally, according to FBI officials. Crooks extensively researched Trump and Biden before focusing on the rally as a target. The FBI has yet to determine his exact motives and found no evidence of external collaboration.
Thomas Crooks, aged 20, engaged in a meticulous, sustained effort to plan an attack against a significant event, finally setting his sights on a rally for then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in July, revealed FBI officials on Wednesday.
Kevin Rojek, the FBI's leading official in western Pennsylvania, stated Crooks became intensely focused on the Trump rally soon after it was announced, using it as a 'target of opportunity'. Rojek disclosed these details during a telephone briefing to reporters.
Investigations have so far failed to uncover what precisely motivated Crooks to try to assassinate Trump at the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. His computer activity reflected a mix of ideological interests, yet no specific political allegiance. Additionally, authorities found no indications of him collaborating with others or receiving directions from a foreign entity.
