NATO Chief Urges China to Halt Support for Russia
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has called upon China to cease its support for Russia's war in Ukraine. He emphasized that Beijing's assistance is crucial for the continuation of the conflict. Stoltenberg warned that China's involvement could damage its reputation and interests globally.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Friday urged China to stop its support for Russia in the Ukraine conflict, highlighting Beijing's role in prolonging the war. 'China has become a decisive enabler of Russia's war against Ukraine,' Stoltenberg said to reporters in Oslo. 'China is the one that enables production of many of the weapons that Russia uses.'
Stoltenberg also cautioned that China's continued backing of the war could harm its global interests and reputation. 'I call on China to stop supporting Russia's illegal war,' he stated.
It is relevant to note that China has previously condemned similar statements from NATO as 'malicious' and prejudiced. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy remarked in July that while he doesn't want China to act as a mediator, he hopes Beijing will put more pressure on Moscow to end the conflict.
