Israel's Attorney General Challenges Ministerial Conduct Amidst Political Tensions
Israel's Attorney General urged Prime Minister Netanyahu to reassess National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's role due to his alleged political interference in police operations. Concerns arise over the minister's influence on police autonomy and potential politicization. This highlights rising tensions within Netanyahu's coalition and questions of governance integrity.
In a significant move, Israel's Attorney General has called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to review the position of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, accusing him of meddling in police operations.
The Attorney General, Gali Baharav-Miara, highlighted instances where Ben-Gvir supposedly provided operational directives, compromising the police's non-partisan stance. She warned that such actions could bias police activities towards political ends.
Ben-Gvir, however, dismissed the accusations, terming it as an 'attempted coup' by the Attorney General. This development underscores the increasing strain within Netanyahu's government.
