New York City's Democratic Mayor Eric Adams is contemplating a Republican primary run, informed sources have disclosed to the New York Times.
The Times reported that the discussions took place as recently as Monday. Upon inquiry from the Times, Adams confirmed his intention to run as a Republican.
A legal investigation had previously marred Adams' administration when he faced corruption charges. However, the Justice Department instructed New York federal prosecutors to drop the five-count indictment against him on Monday.
