Molin Kumar Chakma, a leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), successfully proved his majority support by winning a floor test in the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), an official revealed. The CADC council convened following a notification by the district's minority affairs department, which required a confidence vote within 30 days of Chakma's appointment as Chief Executive Member (CEM).

During the council session in Kamalanagar, south Mizoram's Lawngtlai district, 14 out of the present members supported Chakma's leadership, while three members opposed. Two members were notably absent. This meeting followed extensive discussions regarding the confidence motion, with members expressing optimism about a stable executive committee under Chakma's leadership.

This council marks a significant milestone as the first time the BJP holds an absolute majority since the CADC's establishment in 1972. The BJP currently holds 13 seats, Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) six, and the Mizo National Front (MNF) reduced to one. The opposition has pledged constructive support for CADC's benefit.
