The Congress party ramped up its accusations against the government, alleging a strategic diversion through Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids at the residence of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. With the Parliament's Budget session resuming, Congress claimed the raids aimed to divert attention from pressing national issues.
Baghel, addressing the media via his social media platform, denounced the raids as baseless, pointing to a dismissed case lingering for seven years. He asserted that these raids would not hinder Congress's efforts in Punjab, where he recently assumed charge of party affairs.
The ED, meanwhile, conducted raids under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act at locations linked to Baghel's son, Chaitanya, in connection with a significant illicit liquor trade investigation. Allegations suggest a massive financial loss to the state, with illicit proceeds exceeding Rs 2,100 crore.
