Nepal's President Ramchandra Paudel underscored the significance of the country's federal democratic republic system, achieved through immense sacrifices. Speaking at the opening of a new administrative building in Solukhumbu, Paudel highlighted the collective duty of the government and political entities to assure citizens that this system secures their future.
His comments come at a time when pro-monarchy rallies are gaining momentum across Nepal, demanding the reinstatement of the monarchy abolished in 2008. Paudel reiterated that Nepalese citizens, as sovereign individuals, should no longer face autocratic or anarchic rule, referencing past oppressive regimes.
Emphasizing historical resistance to tyranny, Paudel reminded citizens of their hard-fought gains and the need to hold power accountable. As pro-monarchists become active, he asserted that absolutism is unacceptable to the Nepalese people.
