The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled its rebel member of legislative assembly (MLA), Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, from the party for a period of six years. This decisive action resulted from Yatnal's vocal dissent against the party's alleged dynasty politics and corruption.
Yatnal, who served as MLA from Vijayapura, has been a staunch critic of former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and his son B Y Vijayendra, the current BJP state president. Despite multiple warnings and show-cause notices, Yatnal persisted in his criticism, leading to his expulsion.
In response, Vijayendra lamented the expulsion as an unfortunate necessity, reinforcing the party's commitment to discipline and ideology. Yatnal, undeterred, vowed to continue advocating against family politics and corruption, expressing gratitude for the support of his followers and allies.
