Bhupesh Baghel, the former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and a prominent Congress leader, has openly challenged the effectiveness of Operation Sindoor. This military operation was executed by India to retaliate against the terror attack in Pahalgam, carried out by Pakistan. In a pointed critique, Baghel questioned whether the terrorists behind the attack were apprehended, expressing skepticism over the operation's purported success.
Speaking to the press, Baghel emphasized, "26 people lost their lives; were those 4 or 5 terrorists caught? If they were not, then how can it be said that Operation Sindoor was successful? Who is accountable for this failure?" He also raised questions about the government's assertion of normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting that civilians had visited the region based on state assurances.
The Indian government has stood by its actions, underscoring the necessity of safeguarding national security and maintaining peace in the region. As per sources, Operation Sindoor began on May 7 and marked a striking escalation in India's counter-terrorism measures, successfully achieving strategic military objectives by targeting nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and PoK. These operations penetrated deep inside Pakistan's territory, signaling a robust message of India's resolve against terrorism.
