The Samajwadi Party (SP) has expelled three of its prominent MLAs for allegedly siding with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during last year's Rajya Sabha elections, accusing them of betraying the party's core values and the public interest.
The expelled legislators—Abhay Singh, Rakesh Pratap Singh, and Manoj Kumar Pandey—were accused of endorsing ideologies opposed to SP's inclusive principles. SP leader Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of using coercive tactics to engineer defections, highlighting a significant ideological conflict within UP's political landscape.
The expelled MLAs, however, have fiercely criticized the expulsion, questioning SP's leadership and its allegiance to socialist values. They claim their political journey is rooted in public service. This incident brings to light the escalating tensions and potential reshuffling within Uttar Pradesh's political dynamics.
