Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, also the Bharatiya Janata Party president, launched a fierce critique of Congress, alleging that the party persists with an 'Emergency mindset.' According to Nadda, Congress threatens to 'murder the Constitution,' akin to Indira Gandhi's actions during the Emergency.
Speaking on 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas,' Nadda reminded the public about the imposition of Emergency on June 25, 1975. He argued that the Congress government, under Indira Gandhi, used the excuse of 'internal unrest' to curtail democratic freedoms and assault the Constitution's integrity.
Nadda specifically referenced how Indira Gandhi's election was deemed 'null and void' by the Allahabad High Court. He condemned the curtailment of press freedoms and misuse of Article 352 during the Emergency as a direct subversion of democracy, which he claimed Congress continues to uphold.
